22-Year-Old Trash into Successful Business
Phillip was helping Mike, his dad, clean out the garage when they stumbled onto a new business. Mike knew the idea would work, but it was Phillip that made it reality.
Fast-forward the story two years later and Phillip’s business is selling advertising space on placemats for places in Colorado and Arizona. That means they supply 400,000 placemats with advertising per month. In addition they have created a pizza box lid toppers.
During his first full year of business he grossed $60,000. Not bad for having just completed classes at a community college and running this from his home. Profits were expected to more than double the following year.
How does it work?
Philip sells ads to around 12 local and national companies. The 8 inch by 11-inch sheets are out-sourced to a printing company that prints the ads on environmentally friendly recycled paper with soy-based ink. The placemats are then delivered to a central distribution point for his clients.
Phillip and his unique business have been featured in Colorado newspapers, and Home Business Magazine. He has received hundreds of emails and phone calls from people wanting to learn how they can do the same type of business in their area. Being the savvy entrepreneur that he is, Phillip has written a How to Manual. The manual is 56 pages long and is described as a case study of how a young man took a piece of paper and turned it into a successful business.
