Turning the Unusual Into Something Wearable
Here’s a crazy one about someone with a passion, taking something that has existed for long time and applying it to something new.
Dr. Roger has certainly brought new meaning to the phrase infectious awareness. He has combined the seriousness of public health issues with everyday clothing apparel a company that prints greatly magnified, colorful images of infectious diseases onto clothes
Debuting in 1997, primarily focused on neckties. They soon began to print these beautifully enlarged images of infectious diseases onto scarves, T-shirts, boxer shorts and doctor’s scrubs. Volume has reached the tens of thousands…mainly from his website. He has long since lost track, but his company has recently received a five-digit order from a large pharmaceutical company.
His business has appeared in magazines such as GQ, People and Jane, not to mention articles in hundreds of newspapers. In addition to selling his merchandise online, Dr. Roger also sets up shop at various medical conferences across the country.
Of course, the business is not only extremely profitable, but it is also very charitable, contributing 5 percent of its bottom line to further medical research and development.
It is clear that Dr. Roger cares about his product line because of what they represent. If there is something that you care deeply about and think you may be able to use it to your entrepreneurial advantage, put your convictions on the line and go for it.
It’s also a great example of taking something “old”, and using it in a new way and the power of publicity.
